Gypsy Cob, Gypsy Vanner, Irish Cob or Irish Tinker, the names all mean the same …a faithful companion! For generations, the Gypsy people of the British Isles have been breeding these colorful cobs to be strong, sensible, hard working and incredibly faithful. Here at Mount Christie, we strive to protect the integrity of the breed. Careful consideration is taken within our breeding program to insure that the traditional traits of the Gypsy horse, in both body and soul, remain within the breed as they are being introduced to the United States.  

For almost a century, Gypsy families have bred and used these cobs to pull their beautifully decorated carts and living wagons throughout the countrysides of England, Ireland and other European countries.  Traditionally, the Gypsy horse was heavily involved in the day to day operations of their family's life.  Although they are not being used so much for work or travel any more, newer generations of those same Gypsy families are carrying on the tradition of breeding these exceptional horses. All of the mares and our stallion here at Mount Christie have been proudly imported from some of the finest Gypsy families in England.
